Getting What You Want…If you are ordering dies.
Step 1 – You found the site and you found the coin you want for your Reign in the catalog-cause you just won Crown Tourney-Huzzah! Or you saw this really cool coin in a book and though you don’t see it in the site catalog, you still want “that” coin because it fits your persona. At least that is what your wife tells you. Perhaps you want a wedding coin or festival token, or a whole collection for different denominations for your LARP Group. Every Special Order is unique!
Step 2 – You drop me an email saying, nice to meet you I am the Crown Prince of ” Insert Kingdom name here”, and I need the cool coin on page 42 of “Bruisers and Bushwhackers”. By the way I am going to Pennsic this year after my coronation and I am going to need 500 of these penny size coins to pay my troops.
Step 3 – I write back and say-nice coin, I know that one. Here is what I need from you because this information appears historically upon this type of coin. Do you want a sword or hammer? How do you spell your name. What is the branch you live in or favor? I should include that on the back of the coin because that is what was done in period for this piece. By the way, it also came written in runes, which would you prefer? My calendar is not full right now so I will be mailing these out in four to six weeks from the day I receive your payment…
Step 4 – You write back with all the details, plus you want a little 3 leaf clover somewhere included in the design because it reminds you of your first event where you met your lady.
Step 5 – I write back and say, well that’s easy to do, so here is the final price for the dies and the 500 coins you want. Then you get a PayPal invoice from me.
Step 6 – You pay your bill.
Step 7 – 2-10+ weeks later (sometimes sooner-maybe longer, if my calendar gets overloaded) your order is in your hands. As well as an after order email, detailing your order, any historical notes, a bit of my personal chat, and anything else that needs to be said. Note: In stock dies and small coin orders go out usually sooner. Occasionally I have to wait for materials and it may slow shipping down.
Ordering Minutiae (Payment cements your spot; design cements your quote)
The chart at the left-pretty well sums up my ethics for Alpha Officium.
In all aspects, I try to offer pricing as light as can be done. If you can find a less expensive deal, by all means take it.
The small print…
Effective 10/12/15Gauge: All my coins unless required or special ordered are .032 thick. Somewhat thicker than the average medieval coin of the period.Alloy: I only use lead free pewter alloy in my orders. As well as Pure Copper and NuGold Bronze, Pure silver and Pure Gold. Other alloys on request.
Proprietary Rights, or Die Ownership
If I sell dies I often lose out on some potential income-however, you can own my art outright, for a slight cost. Add $ (varies) per die for all sets!
Please note as of 10/12/15, Proprietary Rights have been factored in.
Please note: The pictures presented are generally models I use to produce my art, unless noted otherwise. In some cases I will display coins of the current die sets I am using to make your order. It DOES NOT mean you will receive that particular design shown. Die sets wear out and we use new models for our sets. So there will be variation throughout…but we will remain close to what we display.
Occasionally specials are offered, they will appear in the Specials pages.
Holes: I will put a hole in anything for free. However I do not string coins, please don’t ask.
Die set holds: Die sets that are not purchased with the order are retained for a short time or as required by the patron. After that they are recycled/disposed of/sold at my discretion.
Coin Blanks: Pewter Farthings: 25 cents each. Pewter Pennys and Half Groats: 33 cents each. Pewter Groats: 50 cents each. Other metals and sizes can vary, just ask for what you need. Other coins and metals will vary, ask for pricing.
Coin Die Sleeves: For those of you that want to strike your own stuff. I highly recommend a die sleeve. ($50) When used correctly, you will have zero waste while striking. Otherwise order plenty of blanks. Hand held dies make for 6-10% loss in badly struck coins. The sleeve is also great for kids…hands free striking…lots of safety! Historical die sets that look and work like actual sets from the period, cannot be used with a sleeve.
Prices subject to change at any time!
I reserve the right to refund and or refuse orders from anyone, for any reason, at any time. This is my safety clause! It is here so I don’t have to deal with troublesome, irrational, and unbalanced people. If you are at least a civil, polite, and easy going person (normal), this paragraph does not concern you. Additionally I would add, if after taking your order you start leaning on me via email or ANY public forum, I will likely refuse your order, refund you,and not accept any future orders. Nota Bene!
California orders are subject to sales tax!
